I'm a pretty normal girl. Well, in the sense of shopping. I really like shopping. And I really like finding a good deal. Normally, when I go shopping I can find TONS of things I would love to have and wish I could buy. Thats normally. But things are not normal because my body is not normal. Its bulbous, and round and lopsided. I hate it. Don't get me wrong, I think pregnant bodies are adorable and lovely and super cute.
Just not mine.
Nothing looks right, nothing feels right, everythings uncomfortable and tent-like. Poo. I went shopping yesterday and came home tired, out of breath and super frustrated. Do you guys like maternity clothes? I don't. I think they're expensive and unflattering and ugly. I hate the shirts with the ties in the back, its like a sure fire way of saying "hi, I'm fat." And the pants, good ned, the pants. Do they think our butt ends halfway up our back? And do they think my thighs are two times fatter than my butt? And you'd think there'd be some better way to make them, since you have to constantly hike them up, over and over and over. Bah.
I know I'm whining.
I'm just not a sweatpants and t-shirt kind of gal. It depresses me to look frumpy and not put together and I've got enough bringing me down right now. So what do you guys do when you're pregnant? Do you just deal with it until you can wear regular clothes again, or do you know a secret to dressing for pregnancy? This is my fourth time around, you'd think I'd know by now but no. HELP ME! Pretty please? *batting eyelashes*

Oh dear, it has been way to long since I have been pregnant to give any suggestions there. BUT they sure make maternity cloths cuter then Back in the day. Everything I wore looked like a TENT. Now girls wear things that hug their bellies and it looks so dang cute. Just flaunt it girl , put on some perfume and lip gloss and you'll be fine.
ReplyDeleteI just go from a four man tent to an 8 man. Not kidding
ReplyDeleteI got nothing. I feel like that all the time!
ReplyDeleteThe batting of the eyelashes got me!
ReplyDeleteI agree, maternity clothes are way too expensive. My favorite things when I am pregnant are gauchos and skirts. Stretchy skirts. Then I don't feel quite so frumpy.
Melinda, I love you, but I am the Queen of Frump and have no help to offer you. Buy a smaller size the pants--that's the best I've got.
ReplyDeleteI also look grotesque and just not put together. I just wore my jeans until I couldn't any longer and then I found the best looking pregnant pant on me...they were always to short, but at least they fit my legs and I didn't have to keep hiking them up!
ReplyDeleteGood luck girl...
By #4, I was just hoping the maternity clothes that I bought for #1 wouldn't fall apart before the kid was born. We knew he would be our last and I didn't want to spend $ on something I would only wear a few times.
ReplyDeleteMy SIL gave me a beautiful maternity blouse for Christmas that year. I wore it three times then grew out of it.
Who knows? I was too buy puking my guts out for the whole 9 months.
ReplyDeleteI noticed that the maternity shops are the ones that have the cute clothes. The downside is that they're so expensive. But, maybe it's worth it to at least buy one outfit that you makes you feel good.
ReplyDeleteIf you find out, let me know. This is our 4th time around, also. I bought most of my clothes this time from a thrift store because I couldn't bring myself to spend outrageous amounts to have them new. Good luck overcoming the frump.
ReplyDeleteI avoid maternity clothes and try to wear things that are cut with a high waist.
ReplyDeleteAnd I love the Belly Bands that go over your pants, I can wear my jeans forever with those babies.
