Library Lacking

I hate the library.

Which is so sad because when I was a kid/tween we used to go to the library ALL THE TIME. And I loved it. We would check out books, sit in there and read, get movies like the old "Parent Trap" and do it all again the next week.

Now? Not really.

And do you know why?

First up, my son is rotten. There's just no way I'm going into a library ever again with that boy until he can SHUT UP, and I have him on a leash. All he wants to do is pull books off the shelf, and if I make him hold my hand he just screams and screams. Not so good in the library, ya know? I was so ready to hurt him, I'm not kidding.

Second reason: Nobody actually goes to the library to check out books, there were atleast 20 computers in there and every one of them was filled up with scary looking people who wanted to use the free internet. Now I don't want to begrudge anyone the internet, but seriously people. Nobody moved the whole time we were there, and we were there for awhile (yes, even with the awful two year old). And all I wanted to do was get on their computer to check to see the name of the author for a couple books and see if they were in stock. Could I do that? Nope. Like I said, I know the computers are there for people to use, but if you're not even at the library for a book at all, I don't know, it just kind of bugs me.

But everything bugs me right now, and I mean pretty much EVERYTHING. I hate the last month of pregnancy.

In other news, I have been trying to be productive and get some projects done, but everything is working against me. Mainly my children. And my body. I promise when this mess of projects actually gets somewhere to a normal state I'll post pictures or something. Maybe. I'm not making any promises.

  1. I haven't been to the library in years, sadly. I usually just buy used books on Amazon.

  2. Yes. The library is definately a place where my patience has been tried with kids many times over the years.
I am with you on the computer thing - In our library we do have a childrens section with 4 computers and creepy people are not allowed in there - ha ha.

    Hope you are feeling better!

I know you are frustrated but you still crack me up!

  3. When I get to the last months of pregnancy, I just HATE. Hate EVERYTHING. I hate people's hair. I'm bugged by the way they breathe or chew or walk. So I completely understand where you're coming from!

As for the library, I have a love/hate relationship with it. I love the free books, the story time and the prizes for reading 20 times a month...but I HATE that I never ever ever ever ever remember to return my books on time. So, as we speak, I have a $6 fine because my husband didn't listen to his audio books on time and now we have to pay for it. BOo.

  4. Hang in there! The last thing you need to do is pressure yourself right now with projects. It will all keepe. Lord knows it'll all be there waiting for you after the pregnancy!

And I hear you on the Library. I ALWAYS end up with fines no matter how hard I try to be good. We're avoiding that place right now!

  5. I was just fine $28 dollars for having my books over due... for guess how long... 5 days late.

    can you believe that???

Our library has a 20 minute time limit for computer usage. and they are dial up. so 10 minutes are used up just for page loading :) but its funny that they are all full no matter what time we go.

  6. Ya know what stinks about the library here...in our little town. Most of the books I want to read...any new ones or best sellers....they have to request from a BIGGER library. Then wehn I finally get it, they want it back in 3 weeks and you can't renew it.
    sucks\
I usually can't finish a book that fast,

  7. For the first year after my book came out, I was afraid to go to the library b/c I was afraid my book would be sitting there on a shelf, unread and unloved and, naturally, staring me right in the face. Since then, I have gone a couple of times hoping to see it there and take a photo of it on a real library shelf. Struck out every time. Go figure. Seriously, Melinda, I feel so bad for you! I wish I was there to take your kids or clean your house or cook dinner--(except I'm not very good at any of those things). I hope you feel much better very soon!

I'm mysteriously judging whether or not you're going to comment or not...you know you want to.
