Locked Up

Wow, its been almost a week since I last posted. Do you know whats been taking up my time? Of course you don't unless you know where I live and then this post is gonna get really awkward because you'd be seeing a whole lot of naked.

Let me explain before you exit out of here.

I'm potty training my son. So very often he ends up naked, its just easier that way. Things are going so-so. He's goes potty on the toilet if I hassle him a LOT, but he fights me all the time. Don't tell me he isn't ready, you don't know him! More than anything, he's just stubborn and doesn't like to be told what to do about anything. The reverse psychology thing works really well on him.

So anyway, I pretty much want to kill myself right now. Potty training sucks. Even if I had complete confidence with him at home (which I don't) I don't know how it would go if we went out anywhere.

So I'm a prisoner in my own house.

Not that we could go anywhere anyway because we only have ONE car right now, and the husband takes that to work. But STILL--a PRISONER!

I need more friends.

  2. I could have written this post. Except I'm not really potty training the kid. My son just ends up naked. He does pee in the toilet...sometimes. (We only have one car, too. I'm definitely a prisoner in my own home, and I need more friends! You should move to Cincinnati. Or, more specifically, you should move right next to me...'cause without a car, just being in Cincy wouldn't work.)

By the way, every time I see your little bio on the side, I want to say "wiener" to you!

  3. Sorry to hear it. Beginning the potty training thing with Sprout too. Fun it is not.

  4. Have you tried crate training? It worked great for my little girl! She always goes when she's supposed to, and only in the right places. Oh, wait. Your kids are kids and not dogs. Right. I guess the crate training idea, though effective, may not be best for your good standing as a parent who should be allowed to take care of her own kids. In that case, sorry. I got nothin' for ya.

  5. Well, your days sound like crap. I've been there, granted, not all day... but I've been there. Good luck with the training.

  6. Ugh. People tell you that "you're going to miss this". I call BS. It's been 5 years since I had to potty train a kid and I most definitely do NOT miss that! (though I do miss how cute her little face was at that age and lots of other stuff but NOT PT!)

  7. Not to boast, but yesterday we threw away our potty chair.
Potty training stinks, especially with a stubborn kid. All 4 of ours were stubborn.

We always just resorted to bribery. Sure it cost a lot to keep buying them stuff, but we realized that diapers cost a lot too.

  8. Potty training is one of the hardest things ever. Why don't you have a potty training party at your house....invite over a few gals.......
serve lemonade, in a plastic potty pot
    chunks of hershy bars
use cut up diapers for napkings

it would be the party of the year.

hang in there, it is just one of those prison sentences we as moms all go through eh

  9. He's not ready... to do what you want. I've heard that training girls is easier most of the time, and since that's what your experience is in let me give you some advice from a person that has trained 4 boys. IT SUCKS. Yes, the stubborn personality can make it unbearable, but sometimes its worse when a child that is not typically stubborn won't do it either! If that child is a known pleaser, then why not use the potty???? It's a mystery that only God knows the answer to- it really will be one of my first questions in heaven.

And thee MOST infuriating answer to my potty training questions is "He'll do it when he's ready". My response: "Well, I'M ready now!!!" *pant, pant, pant* Deep breath. What I discovered is that it's not "is he capable?", it's really "is he willing to do the work?". It boils down to laziness I've decided.

As you already know I'm in potty training hell right now, but my son is a year older than Sam so he should be doing better right??? NOPE. Grrrrrr.

    I feel your pain honey.

I'm mysteriously judging whether or not you're going to comment or not...you know you want to.
