And the Poop Strikes Again!

Oh MY! I just realized this is my 100th post, and I didn't even plan any sort of give-away or to do the 100 things about me (you already know too much don't you?), so what do I do?!?

Well, all I can really think about is poop guys. Sorry. That's all I got.

My son has been pooping all day today. ALL. DAY. And I gotta be honest, its sort of freaking me out.

It started a couple weeks ago when my son decided to swallow a sewing pin. Yeah, a pin. Like a needle. Not a safety pin. A real life size pin, that's pointy on one end and blunt on the other. But Melinda, what does that have to do with poop? Oh honey, I'm getting there, I'm getting there.

I didn't know he'd swallowed the pin, until he was trying to "pass" it. And it was stuck, down there. In his rectum, right about to come out, but no, it was stuck so not coming out. Just lots of screaming, by me and by him. And by Oldest Daughter. Yeah, lots of screaming.

Anyway, a trip to the emergency room and one rusted pin later, all is well. Until today.

When Son starts crying, and trying to poop. Oh Lord please help me, I don't think I can do this again! The last time, the poop was like normal baby poop (as in not solid). But this time, the boy was actually constipated and trying to pass something much harder than he's used to. I'm pumping the legs, I'm trying to help "ease" things out, I'm hyperventilating. And shaking. And I may have passed out once, I'm not sure, things are fuzzy...

I seriously love my son, he is the sweetest kid you will ever meet, but he WILL NOT STOP EATING NON-EDIBLE THINGS! I am so frustrated at the amount of stuff I have to take away from him I'm ready to throw everything in my house away. Or the boy. I'm just not sure which will work better.

Oh and seriously, all I did today was read and change poopy diapers. I'm so not joking. No brushing of the teeth, I didn't shower until almost 7:00 PM, been in pajamas all day. I think I've snapped. (Seriously, something has snapped in my brain, have you noticed I haven't been around here lately? SNAPPED. It's the only explanation.)

Uh oh, I smell something, gotta go!!

  2. What are you feeding that boy? I feel so bad for him. I feel so bad for mommy. Actually, I think I feel worse for you because I have been there and done that and I hated every minute. If you need me to come over and change a few let me know.

  3. Ew, I'm so glad that Bug has stopped eating random stuff (like paper). Or maybe he has just gotten better at hiding the fact that he does eat stuff that he shouldn't be eating. Whatever though, he woke me up WAY too early today with a poopy diaper. I hope you get back to mental stability soon! :D

  4. Oh the joys of motherhood...I remember them well, but not fondly! Mc fly put every thing in her mouth and I didn' even get her until she was two. That lasted until...oh! still going...

  5. OH MY GOSH... a NEEDLE... scary and I'm sorry about that. My kids never really did this so I have no sound advice...

I mean, what will you do? Hopefully it's not a needle this time... poor guy, makes me sad for the handsome little man... :(

  8. OMGosh a pin...how incredibly scary!!

Have you thought of a cage? Like the one they had in the Please Don't Eat the Daisies movie. I'm sure CPS (is that what it's called here?) would understand, considering the circumstances.

I'm with Funky Bag Freak - you seriously need a night out!

  9. Thanks for the good laugh. ;)

My son was quite constipated a few weeks ago. It lasted two days, which was enough to want to commit us *and* him to the crazy bin. We are huge around here on eating plenty of fruits and greens, so I was surprised he was stopped up.

But at least he sticks with edible things. When I was 2 or 3, I swallowed a penny. Luckily, none of my kids have done that one yet, but have stuck plenty of things up their noses. Whoever told me parenting would be this adventurous?!

  12. This is by far the most memorable 100th post, I have ever read! One day you will look back at this and laugh because I can't stop laughing! Of course, it's easier to laugh when it's not your own kid doing it.

Don't worry they stop eating nonedible stuff around 10 years old.

  14. Oh, this is so funny! So sorry you have had to go through this (not to mention The Boy) but you said it all so well! My Big Guy swallowed a marble when he was about 8. It was a crystal one that you put in flower arrangements, thank goodness, or it never would have shown up in the x-rays, the ones we had to get done so that our trip was delayed and we ended up at our destination at 1 AM instead of earlier that afternoon. Poor kid, he couldn't pass it b/c it was so perfectly round it would just spin instead of go through the places it was supposed to go trough. A sewing pin, though--scary!

  15. Thats gotta be so hard for the mom. I'm sorry. I hope things get better for you (and you're son) quickly. I was about to sell my kids last week. Luckily my mom was the first one to answer my ad (ok I called her and begged her to help me get a break) but I totally hear ya girl. I wish I could help some how more.

  16. Oh Melinda! Seriously, I am flinching over the pin story. I know that was BAD and scary and I am sending {{{HUGS}}} across the miles to you and your poor son. That would set me on edge - I fret WAY easy. Prayers for you both.
