Don't Push Me 'Cause I'm Close to the Edge...

I'm moody. I really hate that about myself--that I let people affect my mood. My husband could care less what anyone does, it takes a lot for him to get annoyed (besides by me or our kids, how rude!). But no, someone looks at me funny: ANNOYED!

I do a really good job holding it in and also letting it go, because hello I'm super annoying and I know I bug people too. So initially, something bugs me, I fume, I move on. I pretty much ride the emotional roller coaster, the up's and down's are pretty intense, but they also go by quickly.

But sometimes, something happens when you've just annoyed me too many times. And then I just don't want none of it anymore. I don't like being mean, I don't like confrontation, I don't like feeling bad. So I usually just try and separate myself from the situation and stay away--as opposed to having a brawl with the person by taking the mean thoughts out of my head and spewing them at said offender. I don't think it's right or good to be mean to anyone, but what if that person has just pushed you to your limit?!

So, what do YOU do? How do YOU handle a person that's pushed you too far?

  1. I really try to ignore them and not be around them, as much as possible. Not always easy!

  2. Actually when I'm annoyed, I know it's my problem. But, usually I just try to steer away from them, I want to be around people that make me feel good!

  3. Have you ever seen Anger Management? I am internally angry (pretty much constantly). I think I need to have the doc help me let it out. Maybe I would be a happier person if I let it out. Hey, that sounds kinda backwards, don't you think?

  4. This very thing came up with me last week--my doctor refused to test me for swine flu and generally treated me like a hypochondriac. When the nurse called to say that my strep test was negative, I complained to her about the doctor's attitude--and then my doctor called eight times over the course of the day to talk to me but I wouldn't pick up (thank you caller ID!). I knew that if I talked to her, I would yell or cry or just be nasty. I felt it was better to just give myself the space. I think she has fired me as her patient. Well, that's just as well.

  5. I grit my teeth, whine to my husband and then try and forget about it. If it is someone I know I might be able to speak calmly to her about it. It is a tough one for sure.

    ReplyDelete
  6. I am the same way! I totally whine and then I'm done. UNLESS they keep doing it. Then I say something simple, or write a note and then i move on. I don't dwell on it. USUALLY unless, again, they keep doing it. Then I just punch them in the face and run!

LOL Just kidding. I wish I had that kinda guts!

    ReplyDelete
  16. do you seriously think she reads all those comments??? That's like 30,000

  17. This sounds exactly like me. I get really mad for about 5 minutes and then I'm over it. Unless it's something huge. And we're talking HUGE! Then it takes me a really long time.

But when things have gotten to a place that I just can't take it anymore I do what you do and remove myself from the situation. I think that's better than being mean. At least for me.

  18. i don't think I could do it and home school my kids and live on a farm. I would get too distracted...

  25. I'm part of a quilting bee, where I make a quilt block and send it to a person....it's really fun except I totally messed one up.

  26. I'm so grounded.

Speaking of grounded, on the topic of your post....I had this friend recently, who was awesome. Her hubby was gone for training and my hubby was gone for work too so we hung out all the time.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Winter's in Alaska are pretty tough cuz it's dark A LOT so we spent the evenings together. She wanted to make a quilt for her Mother in law for Christmas. She was leaving before thanksgiving though so we needed to work on it a lot.

    ReplyDelete
  28. One day, she stopped talking to me. No phone calls, texting or emails....weird for someone that had just told me to pick up dinner.

    ReplyDelete
  29. So I thought her phone died. i went to her house, no answer...but her car was there. I started to worry cuz that wasn't like her.

    ReplyDelete
  30. so anyway i just let it go. She is a big girl and if she needs help or something, she can call.

Her hubby was leaving for Iraq in a month so that kinda throws you for emotional loops sometimes.

    ReplyDelete
  31. After about a month, I wrote her an email saying, hey I don't know what I said or did but I would like to know so I can move on with it.

    ReplyDelete
  32. she wrote back about 2 months later, "Sorry but I just couldn't be your friend anymore."

I wrote back...Why the crap not? You don't just ask someone to help you make a quilt AND pick up dinner and then not talk to them for 3 months.

    ReplyDelete
  33. she wrote back saying I smuthered her.

Do you feel smuthered in yoru comment box???

    ReplyDelete
  34. Seriously I was only trying to help her with her quilt. There was plenty of times I didn't want to go to her house to help but did cuz she asked me to.

    Girl drama stinks.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I don't do girl drama very much. i totally just blow it off.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Like with that chick, now I know what I did and I can move on. I didn't write back. i won't talk to her if I see her. We are cool. It's not like I wanna punch her, but I'm definately not going to make small talk with her.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Have I mentioned that I really like your blog colors....it would make awesome fabric.

    ReplyDelete
  38. What would you do with girl drama like that??

    Egg her house??

OHHH did I just write that??

    ReplyDelete
  39. I'm totally kidding about the egging...kinda.

    ReplyDelete
  40. I'm working on a quilt for a buddy around here that is moving soon. I'm totally bummed but I'm moving soon too so I can't complain.

    but I really want to.

I'm suppose to be the one moving, not everyone else!!! Gosh! don't they knwo the rules!??!

    ReplyDelete
  41. Do you wanna come help me pack?? I'm starting already but we don't move until August 1.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Oh i'm right next to barbaloot suit.....She is one of my people that I'm making a Pay It Forward present for....she is sooo excited!

    ReplyDelete
  43. I'm excited for her. She has lots of brothers. Poor girl. I don't have any.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Almost done. I said I would go until the bottom of your blog list. You have quite the list!

    ReplyDelete
  45. Did you ever do the PIF thing??

I really enjoy your blog. i hope your comment box makes you happy today!

    ReplyDelete
  46. Ok, so I read your post, then I went to comment, because I had something to say. Then, I noticed that there were 40 something comments. And I was like, "What the heck? Is there something wrong with Blogger today?" (Not because I don't think you could ever get that many comments, but you know, us wannabe-famous mormon mommy bloggers just don't normally get that many comments.) Then, I started scrolling, and reading. And, what do you know, you really had that many comments. We will just ignore that they are almost all by the same person. In fact, she is invited to my blog any day just for the sheer pleasure of seeing I have 40 something comments.

Then I forgot what the heck it was I had to say about your post. (What was your post about anyway? lol)

    ReplyDelete
  47. WOW! WOW WOW WOOOOWWWW! Kritta, you are HYSTERICAL! So many questions/answers, so little time! Haha Mallory when I opened up my inbox and it said (45) new messages I was like "WHAT?!?!" It scared me a little to be honest!

    ReplyDelete
  48. Okay Kritta, here I go:

Wait, had to get a Mountain Dew, NOW I'm ready:

I don't like girl drama either, in fact, I TOTALLY HATE IT. I would love to be like guys, where you can just say "Dude, that wasn't cool." and then everyone's fine. I don't like that we hold everything over everyone's head. And gossip. And are dumb.
Your story about your friend makes me sad. I can totally relate though, I had a friend that we spent literally EVERY DAY together for almost a year. Until she told me that she thought my daughter was annoying, then it was over for me. I still miss her, but you don't mess with the momma.
I think you handled the situation like I would have, you asked what happened, she told you, alright I'm good. I try hard not to hold thing over people's heads unless they've really hurt me a lot, even then I'll still let you redeem yourself. (Usually. I'm not always so fantastically perfect, but I'm close...right.)
Um, sure I'll help you pack...but you live in Alaska right? It's cold there, and dark! I also hate packing. Besides I don't really know you, I might go through your drawers and take stuff I like...you never know...
Hmmmm, oh yeah, what does PIF mean? I never claimed to be a smart person, really.

YES! My comment box (and ME) is VERY happy right now! Thanks so much, you SUPER ROCK!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  49. I remove myself from the situation. I do other things to distract me. I talk my husbands ear off about all the obnoxious things that are happening. Then hopefully I feel like I've vented enough and things die down a little.

I guess it depends on how much forced interaction you have to have. Like if you work together or have a calling in church together there is only so much limiting that could go on.

Good luck. Now I'm dieing to know what this person has done to you~!

    ReplyDelete
  50. You got KRITTA ransacked!!! lol! I love when Kritta Hijacks my comment box... but I'm not as on top of it as you are... and I have yet to answer all her questions... in fact, I've only answered ONE so far. Next installment is tomorrow or the next day!

    ReplyDelete
  51. Wait I didn't answer your question... I can't remember long enough to stay mad or annoyed at somebody... but I DO get annoyed and usually talk to myself until I feel better! Should I admit that?

    ReplyDelete
  52. I don't get to bent out of shape (get that from my dad) Just bite my lower lip and walk away ---sometimes I'll stew over it a fair amount and I HATE that, Why should we let these BOZOS get to us this way. I hate confrontation---so I usually don't say anything. This was a dumb comment, I have been known to secretly flip them the bird behind their back THERE I SAID IT

    ReplyDelete
  53. Prayer and some venting (a personal journal maybe?), some chocolate, and a good movie to make you cry or laugh!?

I've said some harsh words (in personal defense) these past months and have regretted them. I wish now I'd waited 24 hrs or some such "cooling off" period and then responded more thoughtfully. Words, once said, can't be withdrawn. And some people's memory banks are much better (sadly) than my own.

Good luck. I'm a fumer & a swearer, and those things help, too, but don't say I recommended them. :)

    ReplyDelete
  54. Grow up you whimpy slut and dont worry what others say about you, God Dammnit!

    Sheesh, dumb as whiners.

    ReplyDelete
  55. OK Kritta...next time I see you I will poke you in the eye for that! Well IF I ever see you that is!

I find the older I get, the less tolerance I have for high maintenance people. When I am done, I am done, walk away, no confrontations! Life is too short!

Don't worry what others say...except us bloggers, 'cause we always love ya no matter what, now suck it up!

    ReplyDelete
  56. Um SERIOUSLY Lassie?! You did NOT just come to MY blog and tell me I'm a wimpy slut when you don't even have a profile for me to comment back or e-mail you privately--thats pretty wimpy if you ask me. I have to say thats pretty pathetic to come here and swear at me if you didn't like what I was saying, you must have a lot of time on your hands if you have nothing better to do than rip people up and down. Why even comment?! Ridiculous...

    ReplyDelete

I'm mysteriously judging whether or not you're going to comment or not...you know you want to.
