When Is Stealing Okay?

There are many types of friends. The loud ones, the funny ones, the shy ones, the good listeners. You know what I mean?

But do you ever meet someone, make friends and then realize later on that they aren't the greatest friend? It happens sometimes.

Have you ever had a stealer friend? Oh boy, have I.

This kind of friend is the type who steals everything you have. Not literally, they don't come to your house with a stocking on their head and take all your valuables. No, what they do is much, much worse. This friend comes to your house, sees your decorating ideas and steals them for herself! I know, it's shocking!

Now, I'm all about some good copy-catting, isn't that like the highest form of flattery? What I mean is, you tell them you have the best idea, and then they go off and tell everybody it was their idea. STEALER! I gotta be honest, I really hate that! Especially because I always have awesome ideas....mmmmm hmmmmm.

This person steals your best stories, they steal your lingo, they steal your jokes. They even steal your friends! It's crazy, and super annoying.

And how do you stop it? Tell everyone "NO, really that was MY idea!"? Then you're the petty one. I guess the simple thing to do would not tell them your idea's anymore. Hmmmmm, I think I just may try that...but that wasn't an idea, just a thought, please don't steal it!!! :)

I think of all the friends I've had though, the stealer is the worst. How about you, ever had a friend like that?

  3. The sad thing is, these people don't have any idea they're doing it. Not really. However, turn around is fair play. Maybe she will notice when You steal HER idea and take credit for it. Maybe after that she'll just go away, quietly . . (it's not ME is it?)

  4. I hate stealer friends too! The kind I hate are the ones who you introduce them to YOUR friends and then they act as if they have known your friends for a long time. However, it always backfires because no one likes someone acting like they know you because it's just downright creepy! I really cant's stand those type of people, but it also makes them pretty pathetic.

  5. Awwwww, you guys are so awesome! (OF COURSE NOT HEIDI!) H.K.--DEFINITELY! I hate that too! Thanks Shellie and Funky, so glad to know someone's got my back! But you're right Heidi, I think the worst friends don't even get they're doing it. Which just makes me sad. :( I do have to say atleast it's made me stronger/a better person/whatever. :)

  6. Dude, the other night at a ward party, my mother in law stole THREE of my lines! I said them to her under my breath and she repeated them out loud like they were her own and everyone thought she was so funny.

    Stealers suck.

  7. A stealer friend eh -- I must say I have never had one of those. but that would suck for sure. Or I've just not paid that close of attention.

  8. I told you, drop those stealer friends. Drop 'em like a bad habit, kick 'em to the curb, give them the boot! That totally makes me sound like a bad person, huh. Oh well.

  9. Hi. Blogstalking here. I had to comment because I DEFINATELY had a friend like that. Stole everything I had and "Knew" all of my friends first. I always WANTED to do the catty thing and call her out on it. You betcha. But I just didn't have the guts. Thankfully she moved. Maybe I will steal your idea and post this on MY blog. . . . Oh, wait, is that hypocritical? :)

  10. You know what I hate???? When people steal your stuff!!! Like your decorating or ideas!! I am going to post about that!!

You should do what I do and copyright all your ideas and make your friends sign a "non-steal my catch phrases, ideas, decorating or friends" contract. Just a thought. But don't steal it!

  14. Thanks Terresa, it isn't so much creepy, as it is RUDE and I think I mentioned annoying! :)

You know whats sad about the hotrollers? My hair is really short, like boy short. Like too short to hotroll, and yet I still have them. Someday I might grow my hair out and then I'll need them!! :)
